ORLANDO, Fla. - Three men were arrested on Monday after allegedly pointing a gun at Orlando Police Department officers, leading them on a chase and crashing a stolen vehicle, officials said.
Officers said they were in the complex of the Palm Grove Gardens on Sunday night when they said a man pointed a black rifle out the window of a four-door Chrysler.
One of the officers yelled for the other one to get down, and they yelled to the men in the vehicle to stop the car.
According to the report, the man brandishing the weapon pulled the gun out of their sight once officers drew their weapons, then fled the complex.
"They're very much in fear of their life," said Michelle Guido, a spokesperson with the Orlando Police Department. She added that the rifle "has the capability of holding a significant number of rounds, and those could be shot very quickly."
The car fled from officers and crashed at the intersection of Mercy Drive and W. Princeton Street, the report said.
Officers said the four men ran from officers into a wooded area, but they were able to take three of the men, Antwan Owens, Travis Anderson and Darryl Frazier Jr., into custody. They also said they found the gun that was pointed right at officers.
"It's very solid police work on the officer's part, certainly getting another crime gun off the street. That gun was stolen," Guido said.
Officials said the fourth man is on the lam.
Officers arrested the men on suspicion of aggravated assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer, carrying a concealed firearm and resisting officer without violence.
