Meteorologist mistakenly eats cat vomit on-air

Scot Haney thought he was eating cereal

HARTFORD, Conn. - Mistaking it for cereal, one meteorologist shared an embarrassing and sickening moment with his audience when he ate his own cat's vomit on live television.

Scot Haney of Local 6 CBS affiliate WFSB had been eating Grape Nuts throughout the morning on Wednesday. During one of his weather segments, his co-anchors complained he was making a mess in both the newsroom and the studio.

"You left Grape Nuts all over here," said anchor Irene O'Connor. "Come on -- clean up!"

In response, Haney picked up what he thought were Grape Nuts off the floor and ate them. Haney almost immediately realizes something is wrong as he chews.

"They're a little soggy," Haney said. "They taste like shoes."

When the newscast returned from commercial break, Haney appears on camera for his "What's Trending" segment and explains the nauseating mistake he made.

"Ladies and gentlemen, those were not grape nuts that I ate," Haney says. "My cat threw up and I must have stepped in it and that's what I ate. I ate cat vomit right here on television!"

Haney shows the audience the bottom of his shoe, which has vomit across the center.

"Look -- it's like in pieces right here," Haney says as he shows the audience bits of the vomit. "I thought it was Grape Nuts!"
