Million dollar bonds set for racketeering suspects

7 arrests made by MBI detectives

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – More than a half-dozen people recently arrested by the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation are in the Orange County jail, some with bail set for more than $1 million, according to jail records.
 
News 6 uncovered that they're all facing racketeering charges, but investigators aren't releasing any more information.

Because this is an active criminal investigation, MBI officials said they cannot release details on what led authorities to make the arrests.

The suspects' bonds range from $15,000 to $1.6 million.

Many of the suspects have criminal pasts, according to court records.

Pascual Jimenez, 42, was arrested for conspiracy to traffic cocaine, engaging in unlawful financial transactions, conspiracy to traffic heroin, trafficking heroin, conspiracy to sell and deliver heroin and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. His bond is set at $40,500.

Miguel Mercado, 45, has charges ranging from the sale and delivery of heroin to conspiracy to kidnap. His bond for numerous charges adds up to $1.6 million dollars. There is no bond for the conspiracy to kidnap charge.

Angel Davila, 50, is charged with possession of heroin and cocaine with an intent to sell and deliver. His bond is set at $15,000.

John Baggett, 35, is charged with conspiracy to sell and deliver heroin and cocaine and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device. His bond is set at $40,500.

Waleska Vazquez, 41, was arrested for conspiracy to sell, deliver and traffic heroin. Her bond is set for $275,000.

Malvin Cruz, 41, was charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. His bond is set at $780,500.

Jerry Sanchez, 46, was arrested for conspiracy to sell and deliver heroin and cocaine and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. His bond is set at $395,000. 

MBI officials said they hope to release more information about the cases next week.
