Missing boy, 9, lived in Malabar home destroyed by suspected arson fire, deputies say

Boy could be in company of Tony, Chrissy Hughes, FDLE says

MALABAR, Fla. – Officials have issued a missing child alert for a 9-year-old boy who lived in a Malabar home that was destroyed by a deadly fire Sunday morning, Brevard County deputies said.

Officials said Sebastian Meachum was last seen at a home on Atz Boulevard and may be in the company of his parents, Tony Hughes, 39, and Chrissy Hughes, 39.

The house fire was reported around 10:25 a.m. Malabar Fire Chief Leonard Thomassen said the home was rendered a total loss, according to News 6 partner Florida Today.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said the boy was a resident of the home and has not been located since the fire was reported. One man was found dead inside the home.

"The fire department has only located one victim in the residence to this point, however they have been unable to do much of a search due to the scene being unsafe," a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office said.

Sebastian is described as white, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Tony Hughes was last seen wearing a black Harley Davidson T-shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

Officials said they may be traveling in an 18-foot 2012 Nautic Global Group boat with Florida tag 3066PJ.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said anyone who locates the trio should not approach, but contact law enforcement officials.
