ORLANDO, Fla. - In a matter of minutes, Lauren Collazo's trip to Disney went from amazing to miserable, after someone stole her daughter's stroller, which contained all the family’s valuables, including a wallet and car keys.
"It was very heartbreaking and I was furious,” Collazo said. “You don't do this to people."
Disney security workers eventually checked the park’s cameras to see if they could find the stroller, and they did, Collazo said. It was in the hands of a woman who was using it to push her own daughter.
Collazo, who is from Miami, said she couldn't believe it and decided to post about the experience on Facebook.
"I took that picture and posted it on social media and through the power of social media, made it go viral,” Collazo said. “And I was able to obtain information on who this person is and actually see the post of my stroller being sold online.”
As it turns out, the thief may have tried to sell Collazo’s stroller to Thalia Rogers, from Texas. But the deal fell apart once Rogers realized the stroller might have been stolen. Now she's out $500.
"(The thief) somehow, I guess, found the post that Lauren had posted, and I don't know if she freaked out or what happened, and she called us and said, ‘Send it back to her.’ So I didn't even get the stroller,” Rogers said.
At this point, it’s still unclear where the stroller is.
Collazo said she doesn’t care anymore. She’s just sad to know that another mother could steal from her.
"She ruined our day, completely and totally,” Collazo said. “My husband had to fly up there and rescue me and we had to come back the next day. Our vacation was ruined."
