Motorcyclist killed in Orange County crash, troopers say

Troopers: Crash took place on Econlockhatchee Trail

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead Saturday afternoon, troopers said.

The driver of a Ford Escape was traveling north on Econlockhatchee Trail while the motorcyclist was traveling south on the same road, troopers said. The driver of the car crossed into the southbound lane, and the motorcyclist laid his motorcycle down on the pavement in an attempt to avoid a crash with the car before he was ejected from the motorcycle, the Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford Escape was not injured in the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
