'Multiple shots fired at me,' video shows suspect shooting at Flagler deputy

Suspect turned himself in 1 day after shooting

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – New surveillance video shows the moments leading up to a man firing multiple rounds at a Flagler County deputy this week.

Deputies said Sgt. Phil Reynolds, a veteran of the force, was responding to a call from parents who claimed their son was making threats to them along the 10 block of London Drive in Palm Coast on Monday.

Sheriff Rick Staly said the parents told investigators that they had kicked Philip Joseph Haire Jr., 19, out of the house recently after they discovered he was using drugs. They said he called them Monday threatening violence.

Surveillance video from the family’s Palm Coast home and sounds from Flagler County dispatch captured the moment their son returned and started shooting.

Staly said as Reynolds was standing in the doorway of the home, Haire returned, drove by and shot out of his car window.

“Shots fired, going to be a white four door,” Reynolds said. “Multiple shoots fire at me.”

Haire turned around and fired more shots at the home on London Avenue, deputies said.

"It's gonna be Philip Haire,” Reynolds told dispatch. “He drove by, did about seven shots first, turned around, and did about another seven shots while we were sitting here at the house"

At least a dozen shell casings were found at the scene.

Reynolds did not return fire because there were children in the street, but Haire's father did get a gun and fire it at his son during the incident.

Haire turned himself in to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officials said.
