Dow Jones falls another 500 points at open

February 5, 2018: The Dow's 1,175-point drop MOnday erased the gains the index had made this yea, although it still ended the day 20 percent higher than a year ago.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell another 500 points as the stock market opened Tuesday.

The drop brings the index down 10 percent from its record high, which was reached on January 26.

Tuesday's drop saw the third day day of steep declines, but the Dow quickly recovered much of the loss, climbing more than 100 points.
