NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – At a public hearing Tuesday night, the New Smyrna Beach City Commission voted 3-2 in favor of banning of medical marijuana dispensaries within the boundaries of the city.
The meeting was the second reading, and the final of two required public hearings, of Ordinance No. 65-17, Section 504.01 of the Land Development Regulations.

At an Aug. 22 meeting, the City Commission voted 3-2, approving the proposed ordinance, in the first of the two required public hearings.
City officials said Vice Mayor Jacob Sachs and Commissioner Randy Hartman voted against the ban Tuesday night.
