WINDERMERE, Fla. – Windermere police on Friday continue to search for three robbers dressed as "ninjas" who tied up a couple inside their million-dollar Windermere home and stole their car.
Police on Thursday were at the Lake Butler Boulevard home for more than 15 hours after the robbery.
Bill Kitchen and Camilo Espinol told police when they got home Wednesday night, they were confronted near their garage by three men holding weapons.
Investigators said the robbers tied Kitchen and Espinol's hands behind their backs and led them inside, demanding valuables.
The men also stole a car from the home, but it was later found on Lake Butler Boulevard near State Road 535.
Kitchen posted two pictures from his surveillance systems on Facebook and described it, saying, "Our home security shows me (hands bound behind me) in the office, pointing out the valuables. Camilo is sitting, also bound, with his head in a pillow case. One of the three robbers (in black Ninja suits) found Camilo's hat, and is wearing it. In the second pic, the robber sees the video camera."
"It's very scary. I'm hoping that it was an isolated incident like they're saying it was and that it wasn't random and that we have nothing to worry about," said DeeDee Lee, who lives across the street from Kitchen.
The 8,000-square-foot home, with an estimated value of $1.2 million, is owned by Kitchen, who is the founder and CEO of Windermere-based company US Thrill Rides. His skycoaster can be found at Fun Spot in Kissimmee and Orlando.
Windermere police are still looking for the robbers and ask people to call in tips to Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
