Not even a hurricane could stop these Florida high school students from hosting prom

Students dance outside after storm destroys venue

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – After Hurricane Michael destroyed the country club where they had planned to hold prom, students at a Florida high school were at a loss.

Their school, Bay High School in Panama City, was still being repaired and the students needed a new venue for the annual dance.

The students ended up dancing in the streets.

After winning approval from city commissioners and getting some help from local businesses, the students held prom at a city park under the open sky in downtown Panama City.

Students tell WJHG that prom was a much-needed relief from a topsy-turvy school year that was upended by Hurricane Michael's path of destruction through the Florida Panhandle last October.
