Ocala man convicted of rape, kidnapping stands trial again

Michael Frye accused of 2 other rapes in Marion County

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Ocala man already convicted in August of kidnapping and sexual battery will stand trial again on Thursday for two other rape charges in Marion County.

Michael Frye, 38, has been connected to at least three 2011 attacks where he brutally beat and raped women in Marion County and was sentenced to life in prison in his first trial.

Frye was arrested in October 2011 after being linked to the crimes through DNA tests, investigators say.

In Frye's first trial, the victim told jurors Frye drove her to a secluded wooded area where she was told no one would hear her scream. In graphic detail, the victim told jurors Frye tortured and raped her, while threatening to slit her throat with a box cutter. The victim slashed Frye with a box cutter, which police used to identify his DNA, and was able to free herself.
