Guests evacuated from Gringotts ride at Universal Studios

'Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts' reopens after technical glitch

ORLANDO, Fla. – Guests were evacuated from a ride at Universal Studios on Thursday afternoon after a technical glitch caused the ride to become stuck.

The Orlando Fire Department said crews were called to the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" to help evacuate guests from the "Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts" ride.

Universal told News 6 that a technical glitch prompted the ride to come to "a safe stop, as it's supposed to do."

"We called OFD as a precaution and in case we needed them, but we were able to help all our guests off the ride ourselves," said Universal Orlando spokesman Tom Schroder in an email to News 6.

No injuries were reported and the ride reopened just before 7 p.m.

Guests took to social media, tweeting about being stuck on the Gringotts ride.

It's not clear what the technical glitch was.
