ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - With students back in school across most of central Florida, one teen is being honored for making a difference with the gift of reading.  Boone High School freshman Sarah Dewitz won a $10,000 scholarship from Kohls Cares after she was selected from more than $37,000 nominees nationwide.

Through her Just 1 Book organization, Dewitz has given more than $250,000 books to needy children in the last four years.

"It's crazy to say something like that because it doesn't feel like that, but when you add up the numbers from each distribution that's what it is," said Dewitz.

It started as a simple book drive.  Now, more than 2,000 books line the shelves of a book mobile, free to any child who wants one. The Dewitz family acquired the bookmobile from Orange County and refurbished it. Now they are adding touches like AstroTurf to make a "reading garden."

"They will make grass angels when they come onto the bookmobile," Dewitz said.

Just 1 Book has already expanded to New Jersey, Virginia and North Carolina. Dewitz said her goal is to take the program nationwide.

She told Local 6 she plans to use her scholarship to pursue a career in law.
