Firefighters at Station 5 could not help people knocking on their door the morning of June 12 because they were supposed to wait for the "all clear" from police.

The city on Thursday is going to start deploying the vests on all emergency response vehicles.

The city said the new vests will allow first responders to assess patients and reduce the risk of getting hurt.
