Orlando unveils permanent memorial to murder victim Gino Nicolas

Man honored for contributions to the youth of Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – City leaders unveiled a special memorial Thursday to honor an Orlando youth leader gunned down in a drive-by shooting. 

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, along with City Commissioner Regina Hill, unveiled a permanent memorial to Gino Nicolas. 

Nicolas was killed in April 2016 at the Landings at Carver Park apartment complex in Parramore. 

 

The 24-year-old was the coordinator of Orlando's "My Brother's Keeper" program and friends said he was passionate about helping youth in the community.  

 

Nicolas' attended the ceremony at the John H. Jackson Community Center on West Carter Street.
