Osceola County hotel evacuated after man barricaded self in room, deputies say

SWAT team investigates; Aggravated stalking suspect in custody

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Authorities say they evacuated a Kissimmee hotel on Monday morning after an aggravated stalking suspect barricaded himself inside the hotel.

The SWAT situation was unfolding at the Amber Inn and Suites on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, according to deputies.

Deputies said they arrived to the hotel at 4 a.m. to serve a felony stalking warrant to Bryan Campbell, 41, but Campbell refused to come out of the hotel room. He has since been arrested on charges of aggravated stalking.

Because Campbell wouldn't come out of the room as requested, SWAT was called and after about three hours of negotiation, Campbell willingly left the room at 7 a.m.

Witnesses tell Local 6 employees came around to the hotel rooms banging on doors and telling people to get out of the hotel. Guests have since been let back into the hotel.

On Saturday, Campbell was released from the Osceola County Jail on a domestic stalking incident, deputies said. Since then, he repeatedly called the victim and left her voice mail messages demanding money and even threatening to kill her, according to deputies.

Campbell has a history of domestic violence and has previously been arrested for violating domestic violence injunctions against the victim.

Kissimmee police provided support by housing residents at the Kissimmee Civic Center until the situation was over, according to Stacie Miller with Kissimmee Police Department.
