Panhandle officials worry about possible flooding

APPALACHICOLA, Fla. - The constant barrage of wind and rain from Tropical Storm Debby is triggering fears of the widespread flooding that occurred across the Florida Panhandle during Hurricane Dennis in 2005.
Officials on Monday said the main bridge to St. George Island has been closed as the storm looms off Florida's Gulf Coast. Power is already out on the island and authorities say it could be out for days.
Franklin County emergency management coordinator Mike Rundel says people in low-lying areas and St. George Island have been advised to leave.
Rundel says the storm surge from Dennis caused extensive flooding in Wakulla and Franklin counties.
Officials say Debby is already responsible for some washed out roads and a broken water main.
