Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Casselberry, FHP says

Westbound lanes of Lake Drive close, troopers say

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – A 73-year-old man is dead after being struck by a car Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened at 10:48 a.m. at East Lake Drive and Center Drive in Seminole County.

Troopers said a Ford Taurus was traveling west on East Lake Drive east of Center Drive as two pedestrians were walking west on the north side sidewalk.

The driver of the Ford lost control and the car traveled onto the north side shoulder and over the curb. Troopers said the Ford struck the mailboxes in front of 4400 and 4450 E. Lake Drive.

The car continued west on the north side shoulder. Troopers said Natale Carbone was then struck by the right front of the car. The mailbox debris struck the second pedestrian in the left arm.

Troopers said the pedestrians were taken to South Seminole Hospital, where Carbone was later pronounced dead. The other pedestrian suffered serious injuries.

The westbound lanes of Lake Drive were closed. Traffic was being diverted to Center Drive, officials said.
