Persons of interest cleared in fatal Orlando restaurant shooting

Ying Jie Sun shot, killed at China Wok

ORLANDO, Fla - Two persons of interest have been cleared in the fatal shooting of a woman at an Orlando restaurant, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies on Thursday named Adriel McKee, 17, and Glenn Lamar Quick II, 33, as persons of interest in the death of 53-year-old Ying Jie Sun, who worked at China Wok on Silver Star Road.  On Friday, the Sheriff's Office said McKee and Quick had come forward and cooperated with investigators and were cleared in the shooting.

Sun was shot dead just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when a masked gunman stormed into the China Wok on Silver Star Road near Pine Hills Road.

"When he came up to one of the workers, there was a language barrier," said Orange County Sheriff spokeswoman Jane Watrel. "She didn't understand what he was saying and he shot her in the head."

Sun died at Orlando Regional Medical Center, deputies said on Thursday.  Another worker was pistol-whipped in the incident and suffered minor injuries.

Restaurant customers gathered to pay their respects for Sun by placing flowers at the door on Thursday.

"She was a sweet wonderful lady. She had a kind heart, and she was always looking out for the kids," said customer Billy Vilsant.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
