Police: Car, gun stolen in string of New Smyrna Beach vehicle burglaries

All cars were unlocked, police say

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – New Smyrna Beach police said they were looking for two men Tuesday after eight vehicles were burglarized overnight.

Police said that each of the eight vehicles that was broken into was unlocked.

One of the burglarized cars was broken into while it was in a garage because a garage door opener was inside an unlocked vehicle in the driveway of that home, police said.

Another vehicle was stolen after the burglars found it unlocked with the keys inside it, officers said.

Police said a gun was also stolen from one of the vehicles.

New Smyrna Beach police said that officers are looking for two white men who were seen wearing masks in surveillance footage.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-277-TIPS. Police also reminded the community to lock their car doors at night.
