Body found in Maitland's Lake Lily identified as 71-year-old man

Investigation shut down farmers market at Lake Lily Park

MAITLAND, Fla. – Lake Lily Park was shut down and the Maitland Farmers Market was evacuated Sunday morning after the body of a man was found in Lake Lily, police said.

Maitland police on Thursday identified the body as Theodore Capretta, 71, of Maitland.

His cause of death remains under investigation, police said.

Maitland police said vendors were setting up for the farmers market around 9:30 a.m. Sunday when they noticed a strong stench coming from the shores of the lake near the intersection of North Orlando and Maitland avenues. Park officials then called police.

The park and the farmers market were evacuated once Maitland police found the body, officers said.
