The officers found Williams a short time later in the middle of traffic just outside the park on West Sunrise Boulevard, authorities said.

Police said officers tried to detain Williams under Florida's Baker Act, but a struggle ensued and a non-lethal subject control spray was deployed.

Police said Williams was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the death.

Authorities have been unable to notify next of kin and ask that anyone who knows Williams calls Fort Lauderdale police at 954-828-5534.
