POLK COUNTY, Fla. - A Polk County trio has been arrested after deputies say they were running a moonshine operation.

73-year-old Joe Aaron, 31-year-old Ricky Barnes and 28-year-old Jacob Mayes were arrested on Thursday on charges of possession to sell liquor, conspiracy to violate beverage law and unlawful possession of alcohol beverage containers.

Deputies said they searched the home on Carl Boozer Road in Haines City where they found marijuana, a moonshine still next to a toilet and assorted flavors of moonshine.

"The illegal moonshine racket in Polk County is alive, but not-so-well," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "Popcorn Sutton would not have been proud of these bootleggers—it wasn't a very sophisticated operation, but they were producing, distributing, and selling illegal moonshine in the area."
