Ponce Inlet fisherman rescued after boat runs aground

Beach Patrol deploy rescuers with jet skis to pull man to safety

PONCE INLET, Fla. - Volusia County Beach Patrol rescued a fisherman who's boat ran aground early Wednesday morning in Ponce Inlet.

The 28-foot commercial fishing boat ran aground near the jetty, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The water was too shallow for Coast Guard vessels to travel, so the Beach Patrol deployed rescuers with jet skis to pull the man to safety.

The man was not seriously injured, but his boat was badly damaged.

Crews are expected to remove the wrecked boat sometime Wednesday.
