City of Orlando creates OneOrlando fund

Comcast NBCUniversal joins the list of companies contributing to the fund

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Comcast NBCUniversal has announced it will contribute $1 million to the OneOrlando Fund. 

The fund was announced on Tuesday by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. 

"The purpose of the Fund is to provide a way to help respond to the needs of our community, now and in the time to come, after the effects of the Pulse nightclub tragedy," the news release said.

The fund was created to provide support  to the victims and families of LGBT, Hispanic, faith and other affected communities after the Pulse nightclub tragedy. 

The OneOrlando Fund is a partnership of the Strengthen Orlando, Inc. non-profit. 

Numerous organizations have partnered with the city, including The Walt Disney Co., the Orlando Magic, JetBlue, Darden Restaurants and Mears.

With the contribution from Comcast NBCUniversal, combined  they have donated over $3.75 million.

"We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act," said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

“With 74,000 cast members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones,” said Chapek.
