'Queen of Versailles' to have garage sale to benefit charity

Jacqueline Siegel hosts sale at 'Thrift Mart'

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - "The Queen of Versailles" is doing some winter cleaning, and she's getting rid of a lot of stuff.

Known for building the largest house in America, Jacqueline Siegel is having a garage sale.

"I'm not doing any research on pricing anything, and it's probably going to be too cheap," she said, as she was holding a $695 purse with the tags still attached.

It's happening at the "Thrift Mart" on West Colonial Drive in Ocoee on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Siegel says whatever she makes is going straight to charity. She's invited her husband's employees to set up booths for free.

"They keep 100 percent of the money and they can use it the way they want for the holidays to buy gifts, buy turkey dinner," she said.

Siegel is going through her closet, and already has a rack of clothes ready to sell.

"I go up and down in weight and my styles change over the years so its going to be for all different sizes," she said.

She said she hopes whatever she sells will be a blessing to the buyer.

"It's just a way of giving back, a way that I thought I could help," she said.
