Report: Attack on Palm Coast school bus 'racially motivated'

Flagler County deputies say students grabbed victim by his neck, punched him

PALM COAST, Fla. - A Palm Coast student was attacked on a school bus on the way home from school, Flagler County deputies said.

The attack happened Jan. 3 after the bus left Matanzas High School, according to authorities.

The victim's parents said the attack was racially motivated, reports.

The victim told deputies he was called racist names by several students before being "jumped," authorities said.

The attacks continued when the victim got off the bus, said deputies, adding that the assailants grabbed the victim by his neck and punched him.

Authorities said the boy was also hit by an unidentified object.

The boy suffered a scratch on his neck, but was not seriously hurt.

The victim said he did not recognize his attackers but wants to press charges if they are identified.

Deputies said they are investigating the alleged attack.
