ORLANDO, Fla. - Walmart is among the companies looking to purchase the assets of Hostess Brand Inc., The Orlando-Business Journal reports.

Hostess is the maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread.

It is the parent company of Merita Bread, which operates a bakery in downtown Orlando.

In November, the company announced it was laying off 18,000 workers and liquidating.

Walmart is not the only big name looking to purchase assets of the now-bankrupted company.
