Rockledge woman raped in her home

Police release composite sketch of culprit

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. - Rockledge police are looking for a man who they say raped a woman inside her home in Rockledge.

Police say the single mom was sleeping in her home on Fiske Boulevard near Golfview Elementary Magnet School when she opened her eyes to see a man on top of her.

The man broke into the woman's home through a back door, according to police.

"She was just very, very scared, very disoriented," said Lt. Donna Seyferth of Rockledge Police.

The woman told police she didn't see a weapon when the man attacked her on April 3.

She describes him as heavy set, and six feet or taller. The woman told police she had never seen the man before.

Local 6 brought the sketch, released by police on Thursday, door to door near the home.

"I can't think of anything worse," said neighbor Candace Burklew.

Most neighbors say they are shocked and want the man off the streets before he attacks again.

"I'm a mother, I'm a grandmother, I have daughters so it's scary, not just for myself but for any woman," said Willie Comer.

Police believe the man may have been watching the victim, who lives alone with her children.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Quiroga at the Rockledge Police Department at 321-690-3988 ext. 3108.

Information can also be given to CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-8477.
