SeaWorld announces Antarctica expansion at theme park expo

New attraction to open at SeaWorld Orland in spring 2013

ORLANDO, Fla. - SeaWorld officials announced on Tuesday the park's largest attraction expansion ever--Antarctica- Empire of the Penguin.

SeaWorld Orlando announced the attraction's opening for spring 2013 at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Association's weeklong expo at the Orange County Convention Center.

SeaWorld said guests will experience a journey through a penguin's eyes to the bottom-of-the-world, to the coldest and windiest continent, to a place of ice more than 9,000 feet thick. It's a voyage to Antarctica and to the Empire of the Penguin traveling in a simulator traveling the same speeds as a penguin would on land and sea.

The ride vehicle has a low-profile cabin meant for small children to ride together, according to officials.  Guests will be surrounded by the sights, sounds and surroundings found in Antarctica with 32 degree temperatures and winds of up to 35 miles per hour, making it the coldest theme park attraction in the world.

Antarctica- Empire of the Penguin combines closer-than-ever animal connections with state-of-the-art interactive ride technologies for adventures that are different each time.
