Selfie appears on photo storage account after phone stolen, police say

Victim says account able to pinpoint where, when picture was taken

SANFORD, Fla. – The Sanford Police Department is hoping a selfie will help them catch a burglar.

The victim had her vehicle broken into and several items were stolen, including her two son's cellphones.

Georgette Naulings said she was suppose to drive home to Georgia on the day her vehicle was burglarized. A week later, she said her Google Pictures account uploaded a photograph.

"I'm like, 'Who is this person in my phone?'" Naulings said. "If you link it to any phone that you have, you can automatically, whatever phone you take that picture with, it will back it up to all of your photos in your Google account."

Not only did the photograph show up, but Naulings said that her photo storage account was able to pinpoint where and when the picture was taken.

"I clicked on it and his picture popped up and I clicked the details and it gave me the exact address and the time that he took it," Naulings said.

Naulings said the two phones were charging in her vehicle for her two young sons to play games on for a planned road trip. Naulings also said that her debit card was drained of hundreds of dollars.

"I'm literally like on pins and needles for money right now, so I really hope you get caught. I really do," Naulings said. "Please report him because I'm very sure this is not his first break-in."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sanford police.
