9 suspected heroin, cocaine traffickers arrested in Seminole County

Sheriff says accused drug dealer drove Ferraris, Porsches

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Nine suspected drug dealers accused of importing cocaine and heroin from Puerto Rico into Seminole County were recently arrested after an eight-month investigation, according to officials from the City County Investigative Bureau.

Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said 1,400 grams of suspected heroin; 4,026 grams of suspected cocaine; 176 grams marijuana; 26 grams of suspected fentanyl; oxycodone and hydrocodone; two assault rifles; five handguns and $500,000 in assets -- including cash and vehicles -- were found.

During a news conference Friday afternoon, officials said the accused dealers arrested in this operation were bringing kilos of drugs into Seminole County each week.

"We've taken a big chunk out of the Central Florida drug trade," Lemma said.

One of the suspects, Quentin Wilson, 40, told authorities that he has been dealing drugs in the area for 20 years and was driving several expensive vehicles, including Ferraris and Porsches, according to Lemma.

"Some of these folks feel they're untouchable," Lemma added. "I'm so glad to see this arrest and that we were able to round up these individuals and get them off the street."

Authorities said Friday that they hope these recent arrests can cut down on drug use in the region.

"When we look at the opioid epidemic, Seminole County is not immune from that," Lemma said.

He noted that there have been 213 overdoses and 34 overdose deaths in Seminole County so far in 2017 compared to 51 overdoses and four fatal overdoses in 2015.
