PALM BAY, Fla. - A convicted sexual predator is in trouble again for touching a 12-year-old girl in a Walmart on Malabar Road in Palm Bay, police said.

Jehoshaphat Mitchell was just booked into jail Tuesday night. A judge denied Mitchell bond at his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Palm Bay police said he walked into the Walmart on Monday, followed and then touched a 12-year-old girl twice.

"Oh my goodness, that is so terrifying. I have a 2-year-old daughter and I would die. I think that's a parent's worst nightmare," said Demi Livbenov, a shopper. "I would think that we're safe. I wouldn't think that this guy is going to follow my daughter and attempt to touch her."

The girl's mother said Mitchell touched her in the clothing department, but then, police said, he followed the girl to another part of the store and touched her again. Police said security cameras recorded the incident.

Mitchell spent the last 20 years in and out of prison for sexually assaulting children and he's listed as a sexual predator on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Sex Offender Database. He left prison a year ago after spending just 3 years behind bars of an 11-year sentence.

"Our justice system needs to be a little bit tighter," said Jacob Fairchild, another shopper. "He needs to be in jail he needs to be put away."

Mitchell's sister thought his problems with children were long over.

"He goes to church with me. I thought this was 20 years ago," said Mary Mitchell.

Police think there may be more victims and they want Mitchell behind bars because they fear his behavior could escalate.
