KENEDY SPACE CENTER - NASA will host a two day event for 50 of it's social media followers. The event is planned for August 22-23 and will coincide with the launch of NASA's twin Radiation Belt Storm Probes.

Applications will be taken online through Tuesday at noon.

The event is part of NASA's "socials". Events designed to engage face-to-face interactions with followers on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

The chosen participants will view the launch of the Radiation Belt Storm Probes, tour the facilities at Kennedy Space Center and meet scientists and engineers from NASA. They are encouraged to share the experience on social media.

RBPS are scheduled to lift off aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket at 4:08 a.m. on August 23. RBPS will provide insight into the planet's radiation belts.
