SpaceX to return to Cape Canaveral for 1st time since rocket explosion

NASA targeting December launch from Air Force Station

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – SpaceX will return to the launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station for the first time in more than a year, NASA announced.

Launch Complex 40 hasn't been used since September 2016, when a Falcon 9 rocket exploded during a test fire. The blast destroyed a satellite Facebook planned to use for Internet access. Since the incident, SpaceX has done test fires without payloads on board.

NASA says SpaceX will use the launch pad for a resupply mission to the International Space Station. The rocket would lift off no earlier than December.
