Spring breakers head to Central Fla. for warmer weather

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - With spring break beginning in many parts of the country, many people are heading to Central Florida to warm up.

You didn't have to look too far to find crowds of spring breakers hitting Daytona Beach this weekend.

"Nothing's better than Daytona Beach!" yelled one woman, who had gathered with friends from Orlando.

But there are other spring breakers who definitely deserve the "break." One group of guys left cold weather in Virginia to seek warmer temperatures.

"It's pretty cold," said one of the men.  "(There's a) little bit of snow on the ground still, so this is a pretty good change."

More are expected right behind him. According to the organization Visit Florida, the number of people visiting the state between January and March climbs each year -- 36 percent from 2000 to last year.

This year is supposed to shatter that record, namely because of the brutal winter that kept a lot of people in the north and Midwest captive in their own homes.
