OCALA, Fla. - A man surrendered to authorities after barricading himself inside an Ocala home, creating a standoff with deputies, officials said.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said Thursday morning that the standoff occurred at a home along Northeast 64th Lane in the Dove Hill subdivision.

The Sheriff's Office said the man was living with his girlfriend, who owns the home, and they got into a fight over allegations that he was stealing money from her.

The girlfriend called 911, but the man initially refused to come out, said deputies, who added that the woman was never held hostage.

"Early indications are a man was committing a violent crime and when the call came to 911 the man said he wasn't coming out of the home, and he's reported armed," Marion County sheriff's Capt. James Pogue said earlier.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, crisis negotiators and the bomb squad were at the home.
