COCOA, Fla. - The State Attorney's Office is deciding whether to charge a convenience store owner after a confrontation with a man suspected of stealing beer.
Cocoa police say a man tried to take some beer from the Chevron on South Cocoa Boulevard around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
According to officers, the store's owner followed the shoplifter outside and demanded he return the beer.
Police say the would-be thief returned the beer, after which the owner fired a shot. No one was hit.
Cocoa police have turned the case over to prosecutors. The suspected thief will not face charges.
The names of the people involved have not been released.
