Orange County bomb squad robot visits local classroom for STEM lesson

ORLANDO, Fla. – A group of Howard Middle School students got a special up-close look at the robots used by bomb squads.

The Orange County Sheriff's Deputies Bomb Squad showed off its iCORE Packbot unit, and the Remotek Wolverine.

The Wolverine is similar to what was used in Pulse to search the gunman for explosives.

The presentation was part of the school's STEM program, in which students learn physics, how to build robots and problem-solve.

Program directors said they wanted to show students how what they are learning could have real-life applications.
