Suspected gunman ID'd in shooting near UCF

Deputies say shooting occurred at Campus Crossings

ORLANDO, Fla. - Authorities continue to investigate a double-shooting that occurred Monday night at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida.

On Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies are searching for Cortez Derrell Glover, 19, of Jacksonville in the shooting, which occurred around 6 p.m. on Royal Wulff Lane at the Campus Crossings apartment complex on Alafaya Drive.

Deputies say Vincent Cruz, 20, and Antwon Ollis, 19, were both shot and drove themselves away from the scene until they were able to meet up with authorities, who took them to the hospital for treatment. Both are Valencia College students and both are expected to survive the shooting, said deputies.

Deputies have not said if the victims knew Glover or if the crime was random.

After the shooting, UCF sent an alert to students, saying, "Shooting near main campus. Police searching for suspects. Report suspicious activity to 911." However, the campus did not go on lockdown, said UCF officials.

Students who live at the apartment complex said they felt uneasy knowing the shooter remains loose and were concerned the crime happened on the first day back to class.

"I didn't expect all that to happen and it's only the first day of the new semester, " said Kenneth Davis, who heard several shots fired. "It's just the two guys running around.  I'm kind of a little on edge about that, not too sure about them running around."
