Teen charged with making racist, threatening messages about teacher

Girl made threats on school-issued computers, deputies say

PALM COAST, Fla. – Months after the investigation began, Flagler County deputies announced they have enough evidence to charge a 16-year-old girl accused of making threatening and racist messages about a teacher.

In December, a school resource officer at Flagler Palm Coast High School reported that a chat log between two students included a conversation about killing a teacher, according to an arrest affidavit.

"I'm in a bad mood already. I swear im gonna stomp on her (expletive) face and smash her weave into the ground," one message read.

The pair then discusses killing the teacher, the report said.

"Well its not really murder. Were doing the world an amazing thing," the girl said, documents show.

When questioned, the girl said that she never actually intended to harm the teacher and that she and the other student were just joking.

The teacher at the center of the comments told deputies that she was "petrified" and feared for the safety of herself and her husband to the point that she purchased a gun, according to the report.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement completed its forensic analysis of the computers used April 24. That evidence was used to support a charge for the teen. The other student will not face charges because deputies said he did not know the teacher mentioned in the messages.

“I made this case a top priority for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our investigators needed time to do an excellent job, which they did with this case. Our teachers deserve our appreciation and should never feel threatened with harm by anyone. Hatred and threats of violence have no place in our schools or our community.”

The girl was arrested Tuesday on a charge of making written threats to kill.
