DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach police arrested a man after they say he hit a 70-year-old woman over the head with a rock, stole her car and was involved in a hit-and-run crash with the stolen car.

Markeise Favors, 18, has been charged with home invasion robbery with a weapon, aggravated battery and grand theft of a motor vehicle in the Sunday incident. His 16-year-old girlfriend was also listed as a co-defendant in the case.

The girlfriend told deputies that she asked Bonita Vansciver, 70, if she could use the bathroom at Vansciver's home on West Colonial Circle in Daytona Beach. Favors then went into the house, hit Vansciver over the head with a rock and took her car keys, deputies said.

Favors and the girlfriend were then involved in a crash driving the stolen Kia SUV and abandoned it, according to deputies. The girlfriend was followed to the Jean Street Apartments and was reported as a suspicious person.

Vansciver, who was discovered unconscious after her daughter contacted authorities for a well-being check, was taken to Halifax Hospital where she is in stable condition.
