Thousands brave cold for Disney's 'Frozen' 5K

ORLANDO, Fla. – Run Disney is warning all of their runners for the Frozen 5K to layer up due to the cold temperatures.

The race director told Local 6 this cold weather is actually good for runners because it helps their body recover faster.

However, 10 percent of the runners taking part in the Frozen 5K are from Central Florida and used to training in warmer weather.

Mylar blankets will be handed out after the race to keep runners warm.

Spectators from around the world are in town this weekend, but are wrapped up in blankets and scarves to support their loved one in the race.

The race kicks off at 6:15 a.m.
