Toddler shoots 2-year old sister with a BB gun

The Martin County Sheriff's Office says the girl's 2-year-old brother found the air rifle, loaded and ready to fire, in a living room closet. No adults were present, but an aunt was in the kitchen.

The children were staying at the Stuart house because their Okeechobee home had been left without power following Hurricane Irma. The rifle apparently belonged to a 12-year-old boy who lived at the home, and not all of the adults were aware of its presence.

Officials say the girl was conscious as she was taken to a West Palm Beach hospital.

No charges were immediately filed.
