Scoot the tortoise is zooming past dogs and people, in his new custom wheelchair.

The Florida tortoise was brought to Hillman Veterinary Clinic in rough shape after a front-end loader hurt his back legs. The incident left his legs paralyzed and his shell cracked.
Veterinarians were concerned for Scoot’s quality of life -- and decided to come up with a way to get the tortoise back on his feet.
That’s when veterinary technician Sasha Corbett came up with the idea to get him a wheelchair.
Corbett reached out to the Gunnar’s Wheels Foundation via social media to see how it could help Scoot. The organization was able to provide its first-ever specialized wheelchair for a tortoise through a partnership with Walkin’ Pets.
Scoot is now happy in his shell, zipping around in his custom wheels.
Members with the organizations say they will continue to work with him throughout his recovery and learn how they can help future turtles regain their mobility.
