The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Saturday night it continues to work with the Medical Examiner's Office to seek the identity of the recovered female body. Deputies said an autopsy was conducted and the results have not yet yielded a positive identification.

Investigators will move forward as if the recovered body is that of Alexandria, deputies said.

"We have briefed the family of Alexandria Chery as they go through this agonizing wait," the Sheriff's Office said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time, but a positive identification has not been made at this time."

On Friday, Sanel Saint Simon was named a prime suspect in the disappearance of the 16-year-old girl, and detectives are asking if anyone saw Saint Simon driving a black Pontiac in Osceola County.

Landscapers discovered the body of a female near Osceola-Polk Line Road on Friday. The uncle of the girl told Local 6 on Saturday the body discovered is that of Alexandria.

According to detectives, Saint Simon borrowed a car from his uncle, Charles Pierre St. Simon, and may have been driving around with Alexandria the day she disappeared.

Saint Simon initially lied to detectives about lending the car to his nephew, according to the arrest affidavit.

It states Saint Simon admitted that his nephew spoke to him on the phone and asked him not to tell law enforcement that he was in possession of the car on July 27-28.

Investigators found the car in Pine Hills, processed it for evidence and returned it to Saint Simon.

Local 6 tried speaking with him at his Orlando home, but he did not want to answer our questions.

Alexandria's mother came home from work Monday night and found blood in her daughter's room, and men's underwear soaked in bleach under the bed.

Detectives arrested Saint Simon, mom's longtime boyfriend, for trying to destroy the evidence.

Alexandria's friends held a vigil Friday to pray and support each other.
