TITUSVILLE, Fla. - A Titusville Police Department victim’s advocate was honored Saturday by the NAACAP.

The police department told News 6 that Michelle Flowers was named a NAACP 2016 Unsung Hero honoree.

Flowers was recognized at the 33rd annual banquet on Saturday. The event was hosted by the North Brevard County Branch of the NAACP at the Space Coast Convention Center in Cocoa.

The honor was presented to Flowers by banquet chairperson, Sonya Mallard, and North Brevard NAACP President, Randle B. Clay, for her tireless work within the community and most recently, her selfless dedication and compassionate efforts for the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

“Our department is extremely proud to see Michelle recognized. Her dedication over the past 11 years has helped give a voice and empowerment to thousands of victims”, Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson said.
