Hospital officials in Washington sent it into lockdown after an umbrella sticking out of a backpack was mistaken for a gun.

Hospital officials in Washington sent it into lockdown after an umbrella sticking out of a backpack was mistaken for a gun.

The Associated Press reports an employee of Evergreen Medical Center in Kirkland noticed the object in a man's backpack Wednesday morning. Upon reviewing surveillance video, the facility entered into lockdown mode and sent out the surveillance photo.

The man in question saw the photo, and recognizing himself, contacted security to tell them his umbrella's handle was shaped like a sword.

The lockdown was lifted after police determined the umbrella was, in fact, not a weapon.
