Wet 'n Wild launches new slide ride

Riders race down 360-foot track

ORLANDO, Fla. - Wet 'n Wild customers will now be able to cool off in competitive spirit with the park's newest attraction, "Aqua Drag Racer," which opened Tuesday.

As the tallest and fastest ride of its kind in Florida, guests start nearly six stories high at 65 feet above the ground. The riders then jump head-first on a mat into one of the four enclosed tubes, where they race down the 360-foot track and reach speeds of 15 feet per second.

"It's a little scary when you get up there, but once you start going down, you start going really fast, then I hit this one turn and it just launched me," said park guest Matthew Strickland, of Pennsylvania.

Riders finish the race with a smooth splash into a landing pool, where they are able to see their race time on the large stop clock.

Park guests who are not feeling up to the challenge are able to watch the races at the bottom of the Aqua Drag Racer.

Guests must be at least 42-inches tall to ride the Aqua Drag Racer.
